Happiness ?

What is happiness ?

my nephew sleeping in my shoulder ?, chatting with friends ?, an 8 month old holding my hand ?, eating a full tandoori chicken ? blushing at a beautiful girl ?????

I think its all these. These make one feel happy but we should not get confused that this is happiness. These are just the symptoms, the root is – Happiness is just a state of  mind. If one could simulate that state of mind i think he/she will be happy. But does that mean that one should stop going behind these materialistic pleasure which creates happiness? i would say not. If one can feel happiness by doing anything(within societal limits off course), i think its fair enough.

How do we ensure that we can sustain and live happily for ever ? we need to take cues from people who do it. It is mainly kids who are happy most of their time – i realized this from my nephew. Now what makes my nephew happy? the ability to appreciate the simple things in life and the excitement to see new things, Now don't we feel the same when we go to a new place for vacation or something! I think we need to create this attitude where we appreciate things around us and learn not to get pissed of by petty issues around us. This is easier said than done – Even the great samana’s find it hard to master this. So i think it takes a lot of time(our life time) to cultivate this characteristics. I think if one can achieve this he/she has achieved everything in the world – the ability to live happily!
