wtf.. why the heck i am posting only mba stuff!

We11 the reason is simple :-).. it was my latest aspiration. And i was so close, yet so far(at least for the iims, this year). I wanted to post about my xat experience and the scores.. but i wont!, it is not worth post :-(

Fms.. wat a fun!

120 mins... 175 easy+moderately diff questions, with 4 section... WOW, wat a paper!!!
I took fms in chennai Anna Adarsh college for women ;-) . I went with a definite plan to give 20 mins for qa, 50 mins for va+rc and 50 mins for lr

But after glancing the paper i decided to change the strategy. I gave 30mins to qa, 40 to va, 20 mins to va and 30 mins to lr

I found qa to be easy
Although RC was huge and running to pages, they were not very difficult, but the questions were!..neways managed to attend all the 5 rc's
va i did some crap!.. the passage stuff was the only relief
lr was easy,moderate and difficult(esp the rooms, curtain stuff)

at the end i didnt have the time to count the number of attempts..

Overall i liked fms paper than cat and xat!

After CAT....

Quants has been my weak point, and it has continued to..:-(, my scores after cat07,

I am now in a position that i may not get a mdi call too :-(...It's 8pm and i am still in office(which is almost empty) and i am now wondering wat to do, I have screwed up XAT too. I want to prepare for fms, but the feline is still in my mind.

To be very honest, i have not prepared to my best effort for cat 07. I havent score more than 90 percentile in any of the time mocks...but i always had the gut feeling that i'll crack it this year. Time will be the best medicine for me i guess, for i strongly feel that if i prepare well i will defn crack it!

With 2 days to go.. i will give my best effort for fms..

cat from 2005 to 2007...

I have made three unsuccessful attempts for cat till now. I did my first attempt(cat05) when i was in my final year, with full preparation and i ended up with a measly 88 percentile.. but i thought i'll give cat after two years of exp and joined IBM

cat06:

I totally forgot about cat and bought the cat forms in the last minute and applied just like that, and appeared with zero preparation.. but i ended up with a decent 91 percentile... I thought to myself that if i prepare well the next year i'll crack it..


cat07:

I just enrolled for time mock, i think this the first mistake i made.. i didnt care to go through the materials and i never analyzed mocks properly..but i always thought that i'll crack cat, All my mock percentile ware below 80 except once in which i got 89. This year i have applied for XAT,CAT and FMS...

cat07 exp in detail:

My test center was PESIT B'lore... i have never been there, so i thought i'll go visit once before cat to see how long it takes to reach there(in blore it sometimes takes 30 mins to travel 1km).... it took me about 45mins from BTM . Then i came back and planned to watch OSO in a theater nearby... went along with some my frnd(macora), but alas! they have changed the movie...! and it's a opening day of a Kannada movie. So we went to FORUM and spent the whole day watchin...

On D-Day:

Woke up a bit early and did my usual routine stuff and was ready to leave by 8.30am.. I took the auto at 8.45 and reached PESIT at arnd 9.10(road was pretty empty). There was lot of cat aspirants standing before the gate(exam fever started!)... they let us in only at 9.45. I went and loosened myself and went to the classroom.. it was a perfect place to take the test

Then they gave the omr sheet.. i was very happy to see that the number of q's were 120. Then filed it and checked it twice.At around 10.20 they gave the q-paper i was happy to see that they have not changed anything


10.30am

1min to check whether all the pages were printed correctly and then i started of with my 'so' called strong section..VA. I would usually take 40mins but it took 50mins and managed 21 attempts, i was happy and went to QA, my weakest section and solved some q's in the first page rather easily..then came the "find the value when n is 9.." i virtually fought with that ques.. only to find that i cudnt answer it .. it was 11.45 and jus finishes 10 q's... I started panicking.. Looked at the rest of the q's very fast and finally completed it in 11.15(60mins) and manged 16 attmpts
DI is one pf my fav sections, Scanned through and i didnt find any LR q's I saw some DS q's, started from the last set..the flight one and solved backwards and solved all the ds q's... 40mins and 16 attempts.. then i had 5 mins i jus wanted to recheck the QA ans and redid the 107 (10,1,50) q's and confidently marked 17 as the answer(i missed 7+50+50!)

"PLEASE STOP WRITING NOW!!!"

I jus checked weather i have i have marked every thing properly...
came home and my roomtes solved the 107 q's and i felt.. i didnt hav the nerve to check the score and hid the paper(otherwise my roomies will start solving them..!) and slept till 6.30 and was in a dilemma to check the paper and made up my mind to check it on monday..

Monday i can very early to office(8.30 am) and checked my score...
First section.. QA,

7 correct and 9 wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!... nett 19

I dont want to check any more... but "curiosity killed me" so i checked DI

11 correct and 5 wrong... nett 39, i was a bit sad, since i usually score better in DI

Then went to VA..
12 correct and 9 wrong and nett score of 39
and a total of 97... bye bye iims!, hope is there for mdi, Then i checked with ims answer key and VA shot to 54(15,6).. the rest were same...i might get a single call i thought, if time cuttoffs are correct

I desperately checked my QA with CF,CL.. hoping it wud increase..but it didnt, but acc to tcy i am getting one more correct!!.. that means 24.. i hope they are correct
